Day 3. Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. 173 miles, and easily the most scenic part of the trip! I could have spent my whole trip at Yellowstone, I'll most likely go back some day and spend much more time. This trip, though, Yellowstone was just along the route. I start off with my photos just north of Jackson with some photos of ducks.
The Grand Tetons. The most beautiful mountains I saw until I got to the Sawtooth range.
Yellowstone. It's nearly impossible to take a bad picture here.
And of course, no trip to Yellowstone is complete without the obligatory stop at Old Faithful. Right in the heart of the super volcano. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowstone_Caldera Fortunately, the volcano didn't blow up while I was there! Lots of other people were glad there wasn't an eruption beyond what the geysers do, also!
There she goes! Right on schedule! (and also about a minute after I got there too. What luck!)
Beyond Old Faithful, there are dozens of other geysers within walking distance. I spent hours exploring them!
I grabbed some lunch and headed off again.
Finally, I made my way to Gardiner, Montana, and I had the best evening on the whole trip. Calzones, beer, and good people to talk with at the bar. How do you beat that?
